I was using IDrive to backup files on my C:\ drive until it decided that a new version should be installed.
Version 6.7.3.42 tried to install but failed with the error message:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error creating registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Version\Uninstall\IDrive_is1
RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 5.
Access is denied.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clicking OK gives me:
--------------------------------------------------------
Setup was not completed.
Please correct the problem and run Setup again.
------------------------------------------------------
Then I'm told that the installation is being rolled back.
I've tried creating the key manually - which is fine - but still get the same error even when it exists.
Support asked to me to uninstall or disable ALL SECURITY on my PC and see if this made a difference. It didn't.
I've been asked to change the installation path, use a different drive letter, install as administrator, try an different install exe - all resulted in exactly the same issue.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error creating registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current\Version\Uninstall\IDrive_is1
RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 5.
Access is denied.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've asked if an earlier version is available to install - one isn't.
Anyone got any ideas?

Here's 6.7.3.36 if you'd like to try a previous version:
IDriveWinSetup6.7.3.36.exe

Thanks SteveA for the swift response.
Unfortunately that results in exactly the same issue.
Thanks for the help though !!

Hi SteveA,
Nothing that I can see relevant to this issue.

You could try this Microsoft Troubleshooter for force-uninstalling software to rip out IDrive, then try a clean install:
MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab
