Backing up from %APPDATA%

I want to back up emails stored by Thunderbird. They seem to be stored in USER\appdata and IDrive shows that directory in red text and will not allow me to browse it or back anything up from it.

Thunderbird has no option that I can see to store the emails in a different location.

Can I get IDrive to back up from appdata?

Re: Backing up from %APPDATA%

If IDrive shows it in RED it indicates that its a junction.

Have a look at it in a CMD window using DIR /a to see where it actually points, then add that to your backup list.

Re: Backing up from %APPDATA%

DIR /a sees AppData as a directory.

Re: Backing up from %APPDATA%

Where exactly in the directory tree are you?

%APPDATA% should take you to c:\users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming

If you do DIR /a from there do you still see AppData as a <DIR> or something else such as <SYMLINKD> or <JUNCTION>?

Are you looking at the same folder in IDrive? IDrive will only work with "real" folders, not any type of shortcut.

I think, if you're already backing up c:\users\your_user_name\AppData, you're already getting all of your Thunderbird data captured.

Have you tried searching in your IDrive data (via the "search your account" box) for a known Thunderbird file?

Re: Backing up from %APPDATA%

In C:\Users\neil dir /a shows AppData as a directory.

In IDrive, it shows C:\Users\neil\AppData in red. I can not browse it or select it.

Searching for profiles.ini in IDrive backups does not find anything

Is C:\Users\neil\AppData excluded in Settings - Exclude files / folders from backup ?

Bingo. It was excluded in the settings. I can now back it up.
Thank you.
