Currently, I do nightly backups and on-demand backups for certain files that I've worked on during the day that I wish to back up immediately.
I've been considering using CDP and backing up in real time in addition to doing the daily nighttime backups. I'm the type who likes to save his files frequently as I work. Will this result in the file being backed up every time I make a change to a file, resulting in MANY separate backups for that file? And what about files like Quicken data files, which are automatically saved by Quicken every time a change is made?
My other concern is high CPU usage using CDP.
Thanks for any help!

Yes, it will do incremental block-level backups and quickly start over-writing your 10 saved versions - which could be an issue if you need to restore a much older version.

Same thing would happen here.
With CDP its also possible to set a frequency. I have mine set to 60 minutes, so if I make a number of changes to a file within the same hour, it'll only backup the latest version at the time of the backup.

I haven't noticed any problems over and above IDrive's usual CPU usage.

Thanks, Steve. I think I'll stick with my current strategy for now since I want to keep as many older file versions as possible.
Speaking of versioning, it's unfortunate that IDrive keeps only a limited number of backup file versions. Otherwise, I *love* the service.
